GABRIEL MALHEIROS RECEIVES RICK HANSEN DIFFERENCE MAKER AWARD

One of our Junior Members, Gabriel Malheiros, was given an achievement award , the Rick Hansen Difference Maker Award, at his School recently for his outstanding contribution in making it a better place for all students . School Bullying has always been around but in recent years there has been more public awareness of this problem because of the increase number of children who were bullied taking their own lives. Gabriel’s sensitivity , thoughtfulness, awareness of his School’s environment with his good natured personality combined with his other skills was noticed among his Peers and his Teachers. Gabriel’s father, Marcelos, sent me an email about the award that he received recently. His father gives a list of the reasons why Gabriel was selected as the Recipient of the Rick Hansen Difference Maker Award. “Gabriel was awarded based on his overall behaviour to other students and teachers over elementary school years. He was evaluated considering determination, inspiration, courage, leadership, teamwork, and making a difference in the lives of others. Points about Gabriel highlighted by the school teachers and admin personnel: - Courage: Standing up for other students even when he was not involved in the matter - Difference Maker: Helping kids with integration problems to engage into academic and sportive activities - Leadership: Setting himself as a model for the values the school promotes about caring, sharing, mutual respect and open communication” Congratulations goes to Gabriel from the Nakashima Dojo’s Senseis’ and from the members of Nakashima Dojo.
